You've probably already heard about Steve McCurry and I bet you know his best known photograph which became an icon: the Afghan girl with an incredible and powerful gaze who makes a strong statement about the horror of war. Her green eyes tell a thousand stories from just a single shot that the artist immortalized... and that is what I love the most about McCurry's photographs: one single shot and a whole story. You don't need anything else to understand the context of the entire story, no other pictures or written explanations. His photos simply stand on their own.
I was lucky to see one of his exhibition in Zurich and I admired a collection of photographs from the East. McCurry said that most of his pictures are based on people. "I look for that unprotected moment when the innermost depths of the soul are revealed and a person's face shows what they have experienced."
I am apologizing for the quality of my pics below since I took pictures of some of McCurry's photographs from the expo with my cellphone...
What is this modern life: picture of a picture. I am sure in the future this will be a form of art too. Just kidding, of course :)
Enjoy every single shot. I surely did.
